Lincoln Perry

About the Artist

Lincoln Perry - artist pictured workingPerry, a winter resident of Key West, shows widely throughout the United States.  His oils are contemporary realist depictions of figures in tropical settings.  A recent show, “Work in Progress,” documents the men and machines continually at work on Key West streets.  “Strokes of Heat” is a richly colored painting of bathers at Smathers Beach, while the cool tones of “Secret Garden” invite the viewer down a shady path at Nancy Forrester’s hidden jungle. Perry’s paintings have a mysterious quality.  “Tristes Tropiques” hints at the darks shadows created by the summer sun.

Perry, who holds a B.A. from Columbia University and an MFA from Queens College, New York, showed at Tatistcheff in New York City.  His work has also been seen in the Contemporary Realist Gallery in San Francisco, the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, and the New York Academy of Art, among many other galleries.  He is represented in numerous public collections such as the Bayley Museum in Charlottesville, Virginia, Chemical Bank in New York, and John Hancock in Boston. He was commissioned to create murals 125 by 45 feet for Cabell Hall, at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.
