Roberta Marks creates collages, constructions, and paintings.
Her work has been called the “result of her continuing investigation into the mystery of being…a determined voyage to discover her own relativity.” One reviewer noted that: “Saints and cradles and prayer wheels echo through her tiny stages and imbue the work with a quiet chant that remains with the viewer.… Her collection of materials is impressive, bits and pieces from her travels here and abroad.”
Marks, who earned an MFA from the University of South Florida, is widely collected. Her works are featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and in numerous museums and galleries throughout the country. She has taught widely, including her current classes at The Studios of Key West. She has won numerous awards, including the SFCC Fellowship for Monroe County.
